What is it?
This initiative has provided four continuous water quality monitoring stations within Morro Bay and will provide a single station in Estero Bay. These stations each include a CTD (conductivity, temperature and depth sensors), an oxygen sensor, a nitrate sensor, and a combination scattering/chl fluorometer. In addition some sites include a current meter or a current profiler. Use the buttons below to learn more about the water quality stations.

Goals
The Water Quality initiative has been designed to map spatial and temporal changes in the physical and chemical characteristics of water quality in the Morro Bay ecosystem. In addition, these studies will help to identify the importance of both natural and human sources in causing those changes. The ultimate goal is to use the knowledge gained to improve management and policy decisions.
